Cool and Coarsely Strain the Oil
Allow your used cooking oil to cool down from frying temperature until it reaches approximately 180°F to 200°F. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a clean saucepan and pour the warm oil through to catch large fried debris. Discard the collected food chunks in your trash bin rather than rinsing them down the drain.
